Camp Pocono is located only an hour and a half from Oklahoma City and rests deep in the forests on the shores of Pocono Lake. Camp Pocono is dedicated to strengthening the minds and bodies of children ages 7-14 and offers an 8 week summer camp program for children from all corners of the world. There is never a dull moment at Camp Pocono. There is always something to do! The camp rests on 21 acres of Oklahoma country land and upon exploration of the grounds your child will find that Camp Pocono is full of fun and excitement. From an extensive ropes course, a 30 foot climbing wall, a lake playground complete with a water trampoline and rope swing, volleyball and tennis courts, and secluded hiking trails, Camp Pocono is the ultimate summer destination for any child. Upon arrival to Camp Pocono, campers are assigned to a gender and age specific dormitory where they will be looked after by a trained and responsible camp counselor. Your child will share his or her eight week experience with seven other children in a clean and child friendly Pocono dormitory. Dorms house four bunk beds and a seperate bed for the counselor. Each dormitory has a bathroom with two showers, four stalls, and three sinks. A common room connects each dormitory to the one beside it and so your camper is guarenteed constant involvement with other children. The boys and girls dormitories are seperated from each other and co-ed activities happen outside of the dorms. Activities that your child can participate in include, but are not limited to: swimming, sailing, soccer, basketball, tennis, volleyball, football, horse back riding, canoeing, ropes course, rock climbing, arts and crafts, theater and drama, journalism, music, hiking, and cooking. Each child signs up for six activities and participates in three of those activities everyday, Monday through Saturday. Sunday is reserved as a free day and campers are allowed to participate in whatever activities they choose. Meals are scheduled three times a day at the dining hall and are manditory. Parents are encouraged to buy their campers Pocono credits which can be used at the Pocono Market where they campers will find items such as soda, snacks, pens, notepads, stamps, envelopes, and even shoe laces. Camp Pocono has an excellent infirmary with three registered nurses, one of which, is always available should your child be injured or in ill health. There is also a Pocono Show Theater where students are able to watch one box office movie per week, at the cost of two Pocono credits. The Show Theater also houses the Pocono End of Summer Talent Show, the drama productions, and any camp-wide assemblies that may come up throughout the summer. Social events that campers are encouraged to participate in during the summer include the aforementioned talent show, camp dances, hiking trips, and activitiy competitions. Mandatory events include weekend camp fires, Pocono assemblies, and attendance at the talent show and any drama production. Parents Day is at the end of July and each camper is encouraged to invite their families to Camp Pocono for a Saturday of family fun. Your child will find happiness here at Camp Pocono. Friendships will be made and fun will be had. With our award winning staff looking after your children, there will be no doubts in your mind that Camp Pocono is unworthy for your child. Send your child to Camp Pocono and we guarentee that, after their 8 week stay, your child will return home happy. |
